They met with our educators and field staff, then sketched easy screens for a map, trail cards, species pages, and “how to help” actions (volunteer, donate, report an issue). We got a plain content plan (Hebrew/Arabic/English), photo and icon guidelines, basic safety notes (seasonal closures, fire risk), and a step-by-step build timeline with costs. They also suggested offline basics so the app is useful out on the trail.

Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.

Our company, AppMakersLA, builds beautiful software for clients ranging from scrappy startup founders to billion-dollar tech giants. My role as CEO is to make sure each and every project is an absolute success.

What is the story behind starting this company?

When I started my own startup, ClassCalc, I tried outsourcing the development work and found that most vendors out there were incapable and dishonest. After exiting ClassCalc, I decided to build a brand I felt people would be able to rely on, that would emphasize not only engineering competence but extreme transparency throughout the process of building.

What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?

We pride ourselves on doing development, design, product, and QA all in-house. Humble, strong opinion: any company outsourcing that work is simply a sales company.

How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?

We have startup roots and have been through the most difficult of technical challenges.
We invest millions in abstracting code so that it can always be reused in later projects. For example, while a login screen might usually take 20 hours to build, for us, it takes two.
We pride ourselves on transparency, especially during challenging times, or when things don’t go perfectly as planned (and they sometimes don’t!)

We are industry agnostic and have succeeded in every challenge thrown our way.

100%. We prioritize customer satisfaction over profitability for every project.

We have maintenance plans that range from “keep my project chugging along at minimum cost” to “Keep my project going and add new features each month.” Custom-tailored to your needs.

What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)

Charged per hour, billed monthly.

Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?

The minimum requirement is $25,000, although we sometimes do make exceptions.
